The Balloons

Johnny lurked by the edge of the fairgrounds. He kept his eye out for the balloon vendor. He counted his change. He didn’t have enough.
Just as he was about to jump out and grab a balloon from the vendor while she was distracted with a large crowd, he saw a little girl walk away with her balloon. Her dad was still putting his money away.
He went to swipe her balloon and run, but the girl screamed when he came near and the dad grabbed his shirt collar.
“Why are you trying to take her balloon?”
Johnny just stood there, miserable. The balloon vendor stepped in.
“Johnny was just trying to get a balloon for his sister. She was injured in an accident and can’t walk. Johnny isn’t a bad boy, but he is a good brother and he didn’t want to disappoint Evie. I am sure he meant no harm.”
The man told the balloon vendor to give Johnny whatever balloon he wanted for Evie and he would pay for it.
What a sweet story! I love the twist that he wasn’t trying to take it for himself but for his sister that is ill. Love it! Thank you for participating in FFfAW Challenge!
