Writing 101 – Day 4 – A story in a single image

A story in a single image

16 yrs

I tried to copy the images off the assignment page, but I couldn’t get them. I was going to use the pool one anyhow to tell this story anyhow so I used a real picture of me at 16 years old instead.

Every summer we went to the lake. The lake was for us poor residents. The richer residents had a swim club. I didn’t go in the nasty water much as I became a teenager. My assigned spot was right in front of the life guard flirting. No complaints from Larry, the lifeguard, either. He was the older brother. I liked the younger one too. Hmmm I seemed to have forgotten his name. I know I shouldn’t have been distracting the life guard. Thankfully no one drowned while I was there.

I was sorry when summer was over and school began and then I got married and Larry just became a pleasant memory. By the picture of me at 21 my bikini wasn’t as revealing. I was a little bit more on the chunky side.

Funny story there. My ex and I got married and he went into the Marine Corps. He sends me a letter from boot camp telling me he needed a picture of me in a bathing suit for the bunny board. The other guys were all single. I was the only married one. So anyhow I didn’t have a picture, it was the middle of the winter and so I put on my bikini of the time and walked downstairs so my dad could take the picture. The doorbell rung. I forgot I was half dressed. I opened the door and the mailman almost swallowed his tongue.
