Looks Do Matter!

We had a puppy and during the day we tied her outside in the yard. The neighbors who just happened to be black had a bunch of little children who liked to torture the puppy. They would throw things at it and run up just outside of reach of his chain and hit it with sticks.

Eventually we moved and of course the dog got larger. We put up a fence for the mother and the much larger dog the puppy had become.

One day I was in the house with the windows open and heard barking and then a man’s voice, “Lady, please get your attack dog. I can’t move.” I was totally mystified because the dog was in the fence and for that matter why was a man outside?

So I cautiously peek out the window that was right beside him and here is the dog pinning the meter reader up against the house.

The dog did not forget what those little black kids did to it and it saw its chance and dug out underneath the fence and jumped up pinning the man against the house. The dog was quite big now and could do that quite menacingly and I am sure you have guessed it by now, the meter man was black.

This is a true story. I was a little afraid of the dog myself because of the situation. I didn’t know if it would truly attack or not. I did finally get it off him and held on til the man left. I filled up the hole and put the do back, but the fence had to be reinforced with bricks all around so it couldn’t dig out again.
