Beth looked at the little boy standing in front of her with his hands behind his back. He asked if she was Beth. She replied yes. He got down on his one knee and said, “This is for you, Miss.”
“Why are you giving me a flower on one knee?”
He pointed over to the gazebo. He said, “Please give this to Beth, the girl I love most in this world,” and pointed at you.
“Well please go tell William that I accept.”
He scooted to the gazebo, there was a swift exchange of money and the boy took off.
William strolled over to where Beth waited and before he could say a word, Beth shouted, “Yes, I will marry you!”
William’s smile faltered and he said, “What?”
“It wasn’t very romantic, but didn’t you send that little boy over to propose to me?”
“Uh, hm, uh no, Beth. I just wanted him to surprise you with the flower. I told you before I didn’t want to get married.”
Beth threw the flower on the ground, ground it into the dirt with her shoe and then slapped him across the face and left.

Uh-oh, that romantic gesture sure got lost in the translation! I feel bad for both of them, being on such a different wavelength from the person you love. Although it sounds like they won’t have to worry about that for long….

Oh dear, I think Beth was being a bit presumptuous!
I think a few commas here or there would help the flow of your story.
Ahhh, love gone wrong.

Yes a wee bit presumptuous. Commas huh? I will have to look it over. I write late at night under medication. Sometimes things go wrong.
